Richard admitted signing Elena’s psychiatric petition.
He admitted approving the clinic transport.
He admitted taking her keys.
He admitted that he knew Victoria planned a public confrontation.
“Did you know she would push Elena?” the prosecutor asked.
“No.”
“Did you know she intended to frighten her?”
“Yes.”
“Why did you allow it?”
“I needed Elena to sign the agreement.”
“What did you believe would happen afterward?”
“I would control the trust.”
“I would remove my mother.”
“And Elena?”
“She would remain my wife.”
The prosecutor paused.
“After you declared her mentally unstable?”
Richard looked toward Elena.
“Yes.”
The madness of the plan sounded clearer when spoken aloud.
He had believed love would survive being used as a weapon.
Richard described Caroline.
He admitted abandoning her.
He described his childhood beneath Beatrice’s control.
He explained that obedience preserved comfort.
The prosecutor did not let explanation become excuse.
“You were thirty-six when you confined Elena.”
“Yes.”
“You had money, attorneys, and access to private transportation.”
“Yes.”
“You could have left.”
“Yes.”
Richard provided the master codes to Carrington Bank’s offshore accounts.
The codes revealed payments to judges, doctors, contractors, and political officials.
Within hours, the family’s protection network began collapsing.
Beatrice stared at him.
“You destroyed your inheritance.”
Richard turned toward her.
“No.”
“You destroyed the family long before I testified.”
Richard formally surrendered every claim to managing the baby’s trust.
He asked the court to dissolve the succession clause.
The decision cost him nearly everything.
