Chapter 16 - THE COURTROOM

The temporary parenting hearing occurred six months after the reunion.

I did not ask the judge to erase Daniel from Noah’s life.

I asked for safety.

Primary residence with me.

Structured parenting schedule.

Allergy training.

Medical participation.

No unsupervised Margaret contact.

Daniel agreed to most of it before the hearing began.

The judge asked him.

“Do you believe your mother intentionally exposed your child to a known allergen?”

Daniel swallowed.

“Yes.”

“Did you initially demand your wife apologize?”

His face reddened.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

The courtroom became painfully quiet.

Daniel answered.

“Because I cared more about controlling the scene than understanding what had happened.”

That was the first completely honest answer he had given about that day.

The judge approved the structured plan.

Margaret received no independent visitation.

Not punishment.

Protection.
