Chapter 11 – The Woman Behind the White Coat

Julian tore the second restraint free before anyone could stop him.

The leather strap snapped against the steel bedframe.

"Where is she?" he demanded.

The nurse backed away instinctively.

"I—I don't know."

"She disappeared through the east medical wing."

Julian was already moving.

Marco burst into the room at the same moment.

"Boss!"

Julian grabbed him by the shoulder.

"My son."

Marco nodded once.

"My team's searching every exit."

Julian shook his head.

"No."

"She's smarter than that."

He looked directly at Isabella.

"You knew."

Isabella didn't deny it.

"I suspected."

"You let her stay close to us!"

"I needed to know who she was working for."

Julian's eyes burned with fury.

"She took my son!"

Isabella spoke quietly.

"And if we don't find her within the hour..."

"...your son disappears forever."

Three minutes earlier...

Camila calmly walked through the restricted medical corridor wearing a surgeon's coat, a surgical mask, and protective glasses.

The sleeping newborn rested peacefully in her arms.

Every guard who passed simply nodded.

No one questioned a doctor carrying a baby.

She reached a private elevator requiring biometric access.

Instead of using a fingerprint...

She pressed the tiny crescent-shaped birthmark tattooed behind her left ear against a hidden scanner.

ACCESS GRANTED

The doors slid open.

She smiled.

"So..."

"You finally belong to me."

The elevator descended instead of rising.

Level -1.

Level -2.

Level -3.

There was no Level -3 on the public building plans.

Back upstairs...

Marco handed Julian a tablet.

"We recovered security footage."

Julian watched the video.

Camila entered the nursery.

Two nurses smiled at her.

She showed an ID badge.

Everything looked normal.

Then...

She paused beside the bassinet.

She looked directly into the camera.

And smiled.

She knew she was being recorded.

The footage continued.

She gently lifted the baby.

Stopped beside the exit.

Then...

She whispered something to the sleeping child.

There was no audio.

Julian enlarged the image.

"Can you read lips?"

Marco slowed the footage.

Frame by frame.

Camila's lips formed six unmistakable words.

"Your father will never find you."

Julian's jaw clenched.

"No."

"He will."

Meanwhile...

Elena forced herself out of bed.

The doctor tried to stop her.

"You've just given birth."

"You need rest."

"My son needs me."

She ripped the IV from her arm.

Blood trickled onto the floor.

She didn't notice.

Every instinct inside her screamed the same thing.

Find him.

She staggered into the hallway.

Halfway there...

A little girl stepped out from behind a vending machine.

Emily.

The same little girl from the hotel.

She looked exhausted.

As though she hadn't slept in days.

"Mama."

Elena fell to her knees and hugged her tightly.

"Emily..."

"How did you get here?"

Emily looked around to make sure they were alone.

Then she slipped a folded piece of paper into Elena's hand.

"The bird told me."

Elena's eyes widened.

"The bird?"

Emily nodded.

"The lady with white hair said I should only tell you."

Isabella.

Emily pointed toward the floor.

"He's downstairs."

"Where downstairs?"

Emily whispered,

"The floor that doesn't exist."

Inside the hidden underground level...

The elevator doors opened.

Camila stepped into a vast circular chamber.

Rows of steel shelves surrounded the room.

Each shelf contained sealed black boxes.

Thousands of them.

Every box carried a family name.

Rossi.

Moretti.

DeLuca.

Bianchi.

Conti.

Europe's most powerful dynasties.

In the center of the chamber stood an elderly man confined to a wheelchair.

His snow-white hair contrasted sharply with his piercing blue eyes.

He looked at the baby.

Then at Camila.

"You're late."

Camila carefully placed the newborn into his waiting arms.

"I wanted to be certain no one followed me."

The old man smiled.

"Excellent."

He looked down at the sleeping infant.

"So..."

"The final heir."

Camila frowned.

"Now what?"

The old man gently lifted the baby's tiny left hand.

The crescent-shaped birthmark rested beneath the wrist.

Exactly where the documents had predicted.

He laughed.

Not with joy.

With triumph.

"Now..."

"...we erase the parents."

At that same moment...

Julian, Marco, Elena, and Isabella met in the hospital corridor.

Julian rushed to Elena first.

Without saying a word, he wrapped her carefully in his arms.

For several seconds...

Neither of them spoke.

Neither of them needed to.

Finally, Elena pulled back.

"Emily found me."

Julian frowned.

"Emily?"

"The little girl."

"She knows where our son is."

Isabella's expression changed instantly.

"What did she say?"

Elena unfolded the note.

It contained only one sentence.

THE HIDDEN FLOOR WAS NEVER BUILT FOR PATIENTS.

Isabella closed her eyes.

"So..."

"They finally opened the Archive."

Julian looked at her.

"What Archive?"

Before Isabella could answer...

The hospital lights suddenly flickered.

Every monitor went dark.

The backup generators failed.

A deep mechanical rumble echoed beneath their feet.

Marco looked toward the ceiling.

"Boss..."

"What now?"

One of his security specialists sprinted down the hallway.

His face was completely drained of color.

"We've found something."

"What?"

"The hospital blueprints."

Marco grabbed the papers.

"There isn't supposed to be a Level -3."

The specialist nodded.

"There isn't."

He pointed to the architectural drawings.

"The underground level..."

"...was added twenty-seven years after the hospital was officially completed."

Julian stared at the plans.

Someone had secretly constructed an entire floor beneath the hospital...

Without any public records.

Then Isabella whispered the words that made everyone's blood run cold.

"I know who built it."

Julian turned toward her.

"Who?"

She looked directly into his eyes.

"The man who ordered your father's murder."

A deafening metallic alarm suddenly echoed through the building.

A calm computerized voice announced:
