Ava and Chloe reached twenty-five eleven years after the kitchen assault.
Laura’s trust transferred full voting authority to them.
Bennett Aerospace prepared a formal ceremony.
The twins refused.
They held the first shareholder meeting inside Laura’s Table instead.
Executives sat beneath yellow pendant lights.
Chloe served coffee herself.
Ava opened the meeting.
“Our mother created this trust because she wanted the company protected from people who confused family with automatic authority.”
“Our father spent years repairing a system that failed us.”
“Today, control transfers to us.”
Ethan sat near the back.
He possessed no automatic vote.
He had chosen that.
Ava continued.
“We will not become ceremonial owners.”
“We will not allow employees to call danger disloyalty.”
“We will not treat family relationships as security clearance.”
Chloe introduced new policies.
Executive households receiving company support would undergo independent safeguarding reviews.
Children of senior leaders would receive confidential access to advocates.
No assistant could intercept personal emergency communication.
A worker-protection board gained authority equal to the finance committee.
Some executives objected.
The policies went beyond ordinary corporate governance.
Ava looked at them.
“So did the consequences of ordinary negligence.”
The vote passed.
After the meeting, Ethan handed the twins Laura’s original company ring.
Ava took it first.
Then she placed it between them.
“We share.”
Chloe nodded.
Ethan looked at the women his daughters had become.
“You do not need me to approve.”
“We know,” Ava said.
“But do you?”
He smiled.
“Yes.”
“I do.”
They appointed Ethan honorary chair for one year.
No salary.
No executive authority.
Only advice when requested.
Nathan found the arrangement deeply amusing.
“You finally received the correct position.”
