CHAPTER 5 THE VIDEO THAT STOPPED THE WEDDING

Nobody spoke.

Nobody breathed.

The wedding hall was frozen.

On the massive screen above the stage, the ocean waves moved beneath the yacht.

Then came the voices.

Elena's voice.

Cold.

Without emotion.

"That child is the reason everything is falling apart."

A guest covered her mouth.

Another stepped backward.

Rodrigo immediately shouted.

"Turn it off!"

But nobody moved.

The screens continued.

Because this time...

The truth had escaped.

Mariana watched her family's faces.

Her mother.

Her father.

Her sister.

For years, they had controlled everything.

The news.

The police.

The public image.

But they had made one mistake.

They forgot the cameras.

They forgot evidence existed.

Most importantly...

They forgot Mariana would survive.

The footage showed Nico standing on the yacht deck.

A small boy.

Terrified.

Then Elena moved closer.

The guests screamed as they watched.

"No..."

"Is that real?"

"She pushed him?"

The room turned toward Elena.

Her perfect image shattered instantly.

Elena shook her head.

"No."

She looked around desperately.

"This is fake."

Rodrigo immediately stepped forward.

"Everyone calm down."

His businessman voice returned.

"The video has been edited."

But nobody believed him.

Not anymore.

Because Santiago had prepared something else.

A second screen turned on.

A live file appeared.

A timestamp.

A security verification.

A yacht camera system report.

The words appeared clearly:

ORIGINAL SECURITY FOOTAGE

The room went silent again.

Santiago walked forward.

For fifteen years, he had stood behind Rodrigo.

Now he stood against him.

"Nobody edited anything."

Rodrigo stared at him.

"You."

His voice became dangerous.

"You betrayed me."

Santiago looked at him.

"No."

A pause.

"I finally stopped betraying myself."

The reporters rushed forward.

Questions exploded.

"Mr. Salcedo, did you push your daughter?"

"Did you attempt to murder your grandson?"

"Was the disappearance a planned cover-up?"

The wedding was no longer a celebration.

It was a battlefield.

Isabella started crying.

But Mariana noticed something strange.

Her sister wasn't crying because of guilt.

She was crying because she was afraid.

Mariana approached her.

"Why are you scared?"

Isabella looked up.

For a second, she said nothing.

Then she whispered:

"Because father wasn't acting alone."

Mariana froze.

"What?"

Isabella looked toward the crowd.

"There is someone else."

Before Mariana could ask more...

A loud crash came from outside.

Everyone turned.

The sound of breaking glass echoed through the mansion.

Then the lights went out.

Complete darkness.

People screamed.

Phones turned on.

Security rushed.

Santiago grabbed Mariana's arm.

"Stay close."

A voice came through the speakers.

A voice nobody recognized.

"Congratulations, Mariana."

The entire room froze.

"You found the footage."

A pause.

"But you still don't know the whole story."

Mariana looked around.

"Who are you?"

The voice laughed softly.

"You think your family wanted you dead because of a company secret?"

Silence.

"You were killed because of what your father discovered before you did."

Mariana felt her heart tighten.

"What are you talking about?"

The voice answered:

"The Salcedo empire was never built on business."

A pause.

"It was built on a crime."

The lights suddenly returned.

But the person who had spoken was gone.

And on the wedding screen...

A new image appeared.

A photograph of Mariana as a child.

With a stranger standing beside her.

A man she had never seen before.

At the bottom of the image were four words:
