CHAPTER 19 THE THIRD CHILD OF THE SALCEDO BLOODLINE

The image remained on the security screen.

A young boy.

Six years old.

Standing alone.

Holding the same silver symbol that had appeared throughout the Salcedo family history.

Nobody spoke.

Because everyone understood what it meant.

Another child.

Another secret.

Another person erased from the family story.

Mariana stared at the screen.

"No."

Her voice was almost a whisper.

"Not another child."

After everything she had discovered...

After losing her childhood.

After learning she had a twin.

After realizing her entire identity had been manipulated...

There was still another secret.

Another person who had been hidden.

Gabriel slowly approached the screen.

His face had lost all color.

"No..."

Mariana looked at him.

"You know him."

Gabriel didn't answer.

That was enough.

"Who is he?"

Gabriel closed his eyes.

"I don't know."

Mariana's expression hardened.

"Everyone says that."

A pause.

"But everyone always knows something."

The third child.

The words haunted everyone.

Because the Salcedo family had always believed there were only two heirs.

Mariana and Isabella.

Two daughters.

Two possible futures.

But now...

Someone else existed.

Clara looked at the screen.

Her confidence was gone.

The powerful woman who claimed to control everything finally looked uncertain.

Mariana noticed.

"You are afraid."

Clara remained silent.

"Why?"

The old woman whispered:

"Because that child was never part of my plan."

The second Mariana stepped closer.

"Then whose plan was it?"

Nobody answered.

Until the mansion speakers activated.

A familiar voice filled the room.

A voice that made everyone freeze.

Alejandro.

"I see you finally discovered him."

Everyone turned.

But Alejandro wasn't there.

Only his recorded message played.

"My greatest mistake was believing I controlled everything."

A pause.

"I was wrong."

The recording continued.

"The Salcedo bloodline was never controlled by one person."

"It was divided."

"Three children."

"Three paths."

"Three possible futures."

Mariana looked at the screen.

"Why three?"

The recording answered:

"Because power requires balance."

The file showed old documents.

Three birth records.

Three names.

Three symbols.

The first:

Mariana.

The second:

Isabella.

The third:

A name covered in black ink.

Santiago moved closer.

"The third name was erased."

Mariana looked at him.

"Can you recover it?"

He shook his head.

"Someone intentionally destroyed the record."

Then Nico spoke.

Everyone turned.

The boy was holding the small box.

The same box Clara gave him.

"Mom..."

Mariana immediately went to him.

"What is it?"

Nico looked confused.

"There is something inside."

He opened the hidden compartment.

A small piece of paper fell out.

Mariana picked it up.

Her hands froze.

Because the handwriting...

Was Elena's.

The note was short.

Only a few sentences.

"If you are reading this, then the truth has finally returned."

"I tried to protect all my children."

"But I failed."

Mariana continued reading.

"The third child is not your enemy."

"He is the reason the Salcedos tried to destroy themselves."

Everyone looked confused.

Then came the final sentence.

A sentence that changed everything.

"The third child is Rodrigo's son."

Silence.

Complete silence.

"No."

Gabriel stepped back.

Rodrigo?

Another child?

Another heir?

Mariana looked at the photograph.

The boy looked nothing like her.

Nothing like Isabella.

But the eyes...

The eyes were familiar.

The mansion doors suddenly opened.

Security alarms started.

Someone entered.

A young boy stood in the doorway.

Everyone froze.

Because the photograph was no longer needed.

He was standing right there.

Alive.

The boy looked around the room.

His eyes stopped on Mariana.

Then on Isabella.

Then on Rodrigo's old portrait.

Finally...

He spoke.

"Which one of you is my sister?"

Nobody answered.

The boy held up the silver symbol.

"My father told me one day I would return."

A pause.

"He said the Salcedo family would need me."

Mariana stepped forward carefully.

"Who is your father?"

The boy looked at her.

And said the name nobody expected.

"Rodrigo Salcedo."

Everyone turned toward the screen.

Because Rodrigo was still alive.

And now...

The impossible had happened.

A child nobody knew existed had returned.

Then the boy reached into his pocket.

He pulled out an old photograph.

A photograph of Rodrigo.

But he wasn't alone.

Standing beside him was another person.

Someone Mariana recognized.

Someone who had supposedly died decades ago.

Mariana's heart stopped.

Because beside Rodrigo...

Was the woman who started everything.

The woman from the yacht.

The woman controlling the entire operation.

The boy whispered:

"My mother wants to meet you."

Mariana stared.

"Who is your mother?"

The boy looked toward the darkness outside.

Then answered:

"The woman who has been protecting the Salcedo empire."

A figure appeared at the doorway.

Everyone froze.

Because the woman standing there was impossible.

She looked at Mariana.

And smiled.

"Hello, daughter."

Mariana couldn't breathe.

May you like

Because the woman standing before her...

Was the mother she thought had died before she was born.
