Chapter 15 – Christmas Morning

Snow covered Chicago in silence.

Hope woke before sunrise.

Santa had apparently delivered everything on her carefully illustrated wish list.

There was one final package with no name attached.

Inside was a handmade wooden music box.

A tiny engraved plate read:

For Hope. May your life always be filled with gentle songs.

No signature.

Lucy recognized the handwriting.

She debated throwing it away.

Instead she watched Hope wind the key.

A soft lullaby filled the room.

Hope smiled.

"It's beautiful."

Lucy realized something important.

Protecting her daughter didn't always mean hiding the truth.
