Judith did not only need custody.

The hospital moved the sample into police custody.
A second sample was taken with Rachel’s consent.
Both were stored separately.
The security system recorded every access.
The detective searched Tyler’s business office.
He found correspondence between Judith and an investor named Victor Dane.
Dane promised the Cole family one hundred million dollars if they gained control of Bennett Medical.
The company’s identification technology could unlock secure medical databases.
Dane wanted exclusive access.
Thomas refused him.
After Thomas’s death, Dane funded Tyler’s lifestyle, Vanessa’s apartment, and Judith’s legal campaign.
Vanessa had received nearly six hundred thousand dollars.
She requested another interview.
Her attorney offered cooperation in exchange for reduced charges.
Vanessa admitted she helped Tyler move the diaper bag.
She admitted she watched him lock the doors.
She insisted Judith told her Rachel would be rescued within five minutes.
Judith claimed the heat would create confusion and a dramatic video.
Vanessa believed the plan involved framing Rachel, not killing her.
“Why did you stay after the baby began crying?” the detective asked.
Vanessa looked down.
“Tyler said leaving would ruin everything.”
“You could have opened the door.”
“Yes.”
“You chose not to.”
“Yes.”
Her honesty did not make her innocent.
But it gave investigators the missing name.
Victor Dane had been inside the SUV.
Not during the driveway recording.

He met them at a parking lot before Rachel arrived.
He gave Judith the drugged bottle.
He also carried a second phone used to control a device hidden in Rachel’s car.
Police searched the vehicle again.
Beneath the dashboard, they found a remote lock override.
Even if Rachel reached the door controls, they would not open.
The car had been converted into a trap.
Then the detective found a small microphone beneath Lily’s carrier.
The device had recorded everything inside the vehicle.
Including Tyler’s voice after Rachel lost consciousness.
