Chapter 8 - SIENNA'S DREAM

Sienna had imagined marrying Ethan meant entering a perfect world.
She had not imagined lawyers.
Frozen accounts.
Creditors.
Angry partners.
And a man who suddenly checked his phone every thirty seconds.
“You said everything was yours,” she said.
“It was complicated.”
“You told me she had nothing.”
“She doesn't.”
“Then why are we sleeping in a hotel?”
Ethan stared at her.
“You're being dramatic.”
Sienna laughed.
“I'm being dramatic?”
She threw a folder onto the bed.
“Your credit cards are restricted.”
“I'll fix it.”
“The wedding photographs are being taken down.”
“I'll fix it.”
“Your company stock dropped.”
“I said I'll fix it.”
Sienna stared at him.
Then she asked quietly.
“Do you still love her?”
Ethan looked away.
“No.”
But his hesitation was enough.
Sienna saw it.
And something inside her changed.
She had not fallen in love with Ethan.
She had fallen in love with the life he represented.
Now that life was disappearing.
She began protecting herself.
She contacted an attorney.
She reviewed their financial arrangements.
She discovered something Ethan had not told her.
The luxury apartment they had planned to move into was leased through a company controlled by Natalie.
The vacation property was connected to another Caldwell holding company.
Even the yacht Sienna had photographed belonged to a trust.
Not Ethan.
Natalie.
Sienna sat alone in the hotel room.
For the first time, she wondered whether she had been the replacement.
Not the winner.
The replacement.
May you like
And replacements rarely get told what happened to the original.
