Ryan refused to say more.
Not because he didn't know.
Because he was afraid.

My father's legal team uncovered more financial records.
More hidden accounts.

Then they found a name.
Daniel Carter.
Ryan's father.
But Daniel had been dead for six years.
So how was he involved?
The answer came from an unexpected person.
Vanessa.
She contacted us again.
“I need protection.”
My father almost refused.
But I agreed to hear her.
She arrived looking exhausted.
“You were right,” she told me.
“About what?”
“Ryan wasn't the mastermind.”
I stared at her.
“Then who was?”
Vanessa hesitated.
“My brother.”
I frowned.
“You have a brother?”
“Yes.”
She looked down.
“His name is Michael.”
The name meant nothing to me.
Until my father heard it.
His face changed.
“Michael Miller?”
Vanessa nodded.
My father stood up.
“That’s impossible.”
“Why?”
My father looked at me.
“Because Michael Miller was Daniel Carter’s business partner.”
The room went silent.
