Ryan had spent years manipulating people.
But Michael Miller had manipulated him.
That was the difference.
Ryan thought he was a player.

My father arranged a secure meeting.
Ryan arrived with his attorney.
But he looked nothing like the confident man from the courthouse.
He looked terrified.
“Where is Michael?”
My father asked.
“I don't know.”
Ryan rubbed his face.
“He stopped answering me.”
“Because he doesn't need you anymore.”
Ryan looked down.
For once, he didn't argue.
“You're right.”
I stared at him.
“Do you understand what you did?”
His eyes met mine.
“Yes.”
“No, Ryan.”
My voice shook.
“You don't.”
“You destroyed my trust.”
“Yes.”
“You scared your own daughter.”
His face changed.
That was the first time I saw genuine shame.
“I know.”
“You made Lily afraid of her own father.”
Ryan looked away.
A tear fell.
But I didn't feel sympathy.
Because apologies after destruction don't erase the damage.
My father placed documents on the table.
“We need your testimony.”
Ryan looked surprised.
“You want me to testify?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
My father answered calmly.
“Because you are the only person who knows how Michael operates.”
Ryan looked at me.
“Would you ever forgive me?”
I didn't answer immediately.
Because forgiveness was complicated.
But trust was simple.
It was gone.
“I don't know.”
That hurt him.
But it was the truth.
The next day, Michael made his move.
A video appeared online.
A recording of Ryan and me arguing.
Edited.
Manipulated.
Made to look like I was unstable.
The headline spread quickly.
"Businessman's Daughter Accuses Husband After Marriage Collapse."
Michael was trying to destroy my reputation.
The same way Daniel destroyed my father's years ago.
History was repeating itself.
