Chapter 15 - The Fall Of Michael Miller

Michael's confidence disappeared slowly.

Piece by piece.

Every lie collapsed.

Every manipulation was exposed.

The jury saw everything.

The years of planning.

The financial crimes.

The threats.

The destruction of families.

After hours of deliberation…

The verdict came.

Guilty.

Michael Miller was sentenced.

Ryan also faced consequences.

Not as severe as Michael.

But enough.

Enough to show that choices mattered.

When the hearing ended, Ryan looked at me.

“I know I don't deserve forgiveness.”

I said nothing.

“But I'm sorry.”

I believed he meant it.

For the first time.

But regret doesn't rebuild what someone destroys.

“I hope you become a better person.”

His eyes filled.

“But I can't be the person who saves you.”

He nodded.

Because finally…

He understood.

Outside the courthouse, my father stood beside me.

“You okay?”

I looked at the sky.

For the first time in months, I felt peaceful.

“No.”

I smiled slightly.

“But I'm getting there.”

My father hugged me.

And I realized something.

May you like

The night Ryan attacked me wasn't the night my life ended.

It was the night I finally began taking it back.
