Chapter 4 - THE BOARDING SCHOOL DOCUMENTS
Ravenscroft Academy was not an ordinary school.
It was a private medical institution for children from powerful families.
Its residents lived behind locked gates.
Parents signed broad guardianship agreements.
The institution controlled medical care, communication, and travel.
Victoria had prepared to send the triplets there for five years.
Richard’s forged signature granted her full authority to make decisions while the boys were overseas.
Detective Ellis examined the financial section.
“If they entered Ravenscroft, who controlled their trust?”
Richard called his attorney, Graham Vale.
Vale arrived at the hospital wearing a gray suit and an expression of professional concern.
He had managed Hawthorne family assets for more than twenty years.
He reviewed the documents.
“The children’s trust becomes temporarily supervised by their legal guardian.”
“Who would that be?” Ellis asked.
“Richard’s spouse.”
Everyone looked toward the page.
Victoria would have controlled nearly six hundred million dollars in protected assets.
Richard stared at Vale.
“You drafted this trust.”
“Your late wife requested it.”
Richard’s first wife, Claire, died four years earlier after a sudden illness.
She created separate trusts for the triplets.
The money could not be touched until they turned twenty-five.
There was one exception.
If doctors declared the boys unable to remain at home, their acting guardian could use the funds for medical care, education, and residential expenses.
Victoria and Cole had manufactured that condition.
Richard looked toward his sons.
“She was making them sick to gain control of the trust.”
Vale adjusted his glasses.
“That appears possible.”
Emily watched him.
He showed no shock.
No anger.
No confusion.
“You knew about Ravenscroft,” she said.
Vale looked at her.
“I know about every institution named in Hawthorne documents.”
“You also notarized Richard’s forged signature.”
Vale’s expression changed slightly.
Detective Ellis picked up the page.
The notary stamp belonged to Vale’s office.
Vale remained calm.
“My seal is used by several authorized employees.”
“Then give us their names.”
“I will cooperate fully.”
He turned toward Richard.
“You should focus on the children.”
“I will protect the company and the estate.”
Richard’s gaze sharpened.
“No.”
Vale paused.
“No?”
“You will not touch another account until this investigation is complete.”
“I have managed your family’s interests since you were a teenager.”
“And Victoria entered my life through you.”
Vale’s face became still.
Three years earlier, Vale invited Victoria to a Hawthorne charity auction.
He described her as an art consultant.
She began dating Richard months later.
Vale had placed her inside the family.
Detective Ellis asked him to surrender his phone.
Vale refused without a warrant.
He left the hospital with two officers following him.
Emily watched him through the window.
“He is involved.”
Richard nodded slowly.
“I know.”
A monitor began beeping inside the boys’ room.
Doctors rushed toward Noah.
His heart rate had dropped.
Emily entered before anyone stopped her.
She saw the medication line connected to his arm.
A clear bag hung above him.
The printed label showed a normal electrolyte solution.
Emily smelled something bitter near the tubing.
“Disconnect that bag.”
The nurse hesitated.
Emily pulled the line free herself.
The doctor examined the label.
“This came from the hospital pharmacy.”
Emily looked toward the corridor.
A man in blue scrubs was walking quickly toward the stairwell.

Someone was still trying to reach the boys.
