Richard’s defense in the courthouse case rested on one claim.
He never touched Khloe.
His attorney repeated it throughout opening statements.
“Richard Harrington did not push his wife.”
“Richard Harrington did not instruct Vanessa Kensington to push anyone.”
“Richard Harrington stood several feet away.”
The argument sounded powerful until Harrison testified.
He described the warning notation.
Force confrontation outside cameras.
He described Richard pulling the fire alarm.
He described Price distracting him.
He described Richard’s message to Vanessa.
Do whatever you need to do.
Make sure she cannot walk into the next hearing looking innocent.
Richard’s attorney approached Harrison.
“You hate my client.”
“Yes.”
The courtroom shifted.
Harrison did not soften the answer.
“You want him punished.”
“Yes.”
“You would interpret any message against him.”
“No.”
“I would present the full record and allow the jury to interpret it.”
“Did Richard say push Khloe?”
“No.”
“Did he say kill the baby?”
“No.”
“Then this is speculation.”
Harrison looked toward the jury.
“A person can create a weapon without naming the moment it fires.”
The prosecutor later showed Richard’s private message to Price after the fall.
This is worse than planned.
Do not let Vanessa speak to police alone.
Worse than planned.
Not unimaginable.
Not shocking.
Worse than planned.
The phrase established that a harmful confrontation had been expected.
Price testified that Richard wanted Khloe publicly destabilized before the next custody hearing.
He expected shouting.
Possibly a slap.
He wanted photographs showing Khloe emotional or injured enough to delay proceedings.
The plan was not necessarily murder.
It was intentional danger.
The jury convicted Richard of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, obstruction, and witness intimidation.
He was acquitted of conspiracy to commit murder.
Khloe accepted the mixed verdict.
Truth did not need the largest possible label.
Richard’s choices were still recorded.
The judge combined the sentences from the financial and violence-related cases.
Richard received forty-six years.
He would be an old man before becoming eligible for release.
At sentencing, he looked at Khloe.
“I never wanted you dead.”
Khloe stood with her cane.
