Julian’s divorce strategy was emotional.
Elena’s was documentary.
He claimed deception.
She produced the prenup protecting family trusts.
He claimed he created Aurelia’s value.
She acknowledged his contribution.
Then produced compensation records showing tens of millions already paid.
He claimed rights in the penthouse.
Property records showed Marlowe ownership.
He claimed rights in Elena’s trust interests.
Waived by genuine prenup.
He attacked the genuine prenup as unfair.
Naomi produced Julian’s own lawyer’s letter from the wedding year calling the agreement “balanced and fully understood.”
Julian’s past confidence became Elena’s current evidence.
Then came the forged second prenup.
Handwriting experts confirmed fabrication.
The notary admitted her seal had been used without authorization after leaving Whitmore—no, Aurelia—legal administration.
Investigators traced the document metadata to Lewis Benton’s office.
Lewis requested immunity.
He did not receive it.
He began cooperating anyway.
Julian’s plan had been larger than anyone knew.
After refinancing, he intended to create a new parent company.
Rossi Global Hospitality.
Aurelia would sit beneath it.
Through lender pressure and Elena’s forged proxy rights, Julian hoped to force Marlowe leases into new agreements.
Over time, he believed the Rossi entity could gain purchase options on the land.
Not immediately.
Gradually.
The man who shouted “This is my resort” had been trying to make that sentence legally true for years.
Elena sat silently after hearing.
Naomi asked.
“You okay?”
“Yes.”
Then Elena corrected herself.
“No.”
She stared at the diagram.
“Nine years.”
“I thought we were building the same thing.”
“You were.”
Naomi said.
“Until he changed what winning meant.”
That was it.
At first, Julian wanted to build with her.
Then he wanted to own without her.
The divorce court eventually enforced the genuine prenup.
Elena retained her family interests.
Julian retained whatever legitimate personal assets remained after criminal and creditor claims.
The marriage ended on paper months before the criminal case ended.
When the judge asked Elena whether reconciliation was possible, she answered.
“No.”
Julian’s lawyer looked toward him.
Julian did not object.
For once, even he understood the empire was not the thing he had lost first.
