Chapter 12 - MELISSA LOSES CONTROL OF THE STORY
The court-appointed family counselor met with Jason and Alyssa separately.
Jason repeated that I used money to control the family.
The counselor asked for examples.
“She canceled my gaming account.”
“After what event?”
“I broke Ethan’s plane.”
“Had she paid for the account?”
“Yes.”
“Did she prevent your father or mother from restoring it?”
“No.”
“What happened next?”
“My dad said I had to replace the plane.”
The counselor wrote quietly.
Alyssa described the canceled riding lessons.
Then she admitted her parents had not agreed on payment.
She described my household rules.
Clean shared spaces.
Ask before borrowing.
No insults.
No damaging property.
The counselor found no financial abuse.
She found parental alienation.
Her report stated that Melissa repeatedly encouraged the children to reject safe authority in Daniel’s home.
It recommended continued counseling and restrictions on disparaging communication.
Melissa was furious.
She posted a vague social-media message about rich women buying court opinions.
The judge ordered her to remove it.
Then Jason disclosed something during counseling.
Melissa had promised him a car if he helped prove our home was unsafe.
She planned to file for full custody and increased child support.
Alyssa had been promised a horse.
Neither promise was financially realistic.
The children had been recruited with futures Melissa could not provide.
When confronted, Melissa blamed stress.
She said she feared being replaced.
The judge answered,
“Fear does not permit you to destabilize your children’s second household.”
Melissa’s custody time remained unchanged.
However, all communication moved through the monitored application.
She was prohibited from entering our property.
The teenagers were told directly that they could love their mother without carrying messages, gathering documents, or sabotaging relationships.
Jason left court angry.
Alyssa looked relieved.
