Chapter 7: A House Divided

The puzzle pieces clicked into place with horrifying clarity. It was never about the baby. It was about power. Esther, who had ruled the Aranda empire from the shadows for decades, could not stomach the idea of Valeria—a woman from a working-class background whom she had always despised—holding the keys to the kingdom.

“You tried to murder my unborn child over shares in a company?” Alejandro whispered, staring at his mother as if she were a monster wearing human skin.

“It is my family’s legacy!” Esther exploded, abandoning the facade of the caring mother. Her face contorted with rage.

“I built this empire while your father played golf and drank! I made the deals! I ruthlessly eliminated our competitors! And I was supposed to just hand it over to this... this nobody because she managed to get pregnant?”

“She is my wife!” Alejandro roared, the sound vibrating the crystal chandelier overhead.

“Your legacy is built on blood and poison,” Alejandro spat. He reached into his pocket and pulled out his cell phone.
