Chapter 11: Justice Arrives

Heavy footsteps echoed in the grand hallway downstairs, followed by the sharp commands of the local police.
The bedroom doors burst open, and four armed officers stepped in, taking in the chaotic scene: the overturned furniture, the shattered lamp, the weeping patriarch, the battered pregnant woman on the bed, and the son pinning his furious mother to the floor.
“Officers,” Alejandro said, his voice remarkably steady despite the adrenaline coursing through his veins. “This woman attempted to murder my wife and my unborn child. I am pressing full charges.”
The officers, who usually treated the Aranda family with utmost deference, were stunned. But the evidence was clear. They moved in, pulling Esther up and restraining her hands behind her back in steel cuffs.
“You will regret this, Alejandro!” Esther screamed as they read her her rights. “You are nothing without me! You will lose the company! You will lose everything!”
“I already have everything I need,” Alejandro replied, not looking at her as they dragged her out of the room.

Another officer approached Arturo. “Sir, based on the statement just given, we will need to take you in for questioning regarding your knowledge of these events.”
Arturo didn't resist. He stood up slowly, offering his wrists. “I understand,” he said quietly, following the officers out into the hall.
