Once Iris spoke publicly, workers from Mercer properties began contacting investigators.

A hotel chef reported missing retirement contributions.

A gardener described threats from Ocean Crest Security.

A housekeeper said Camille kept employees’ passports during overseas events.

A driver had transported sealed boxes from Mercer offices to Richard’s law firm.

A bookkeeper found health-insurance deductions that never reached the insurer.

Each complaint had looked isolated.

Together, they revealed a system.

Richard used restoration vendors to launder stolen money.

Camille controlled household employees and internal complaints.

Matthew approved transfers.

Dr. Shaw created medical explanations.

Private security handled witnesses.

The luxury surrounding Mercer House had been partly financed by money taken from the people maintaining it.

Gabriel had never ordered the theft.

He had signed annual reports saying the funds were secure.

Legally, the difference mattered.

“That reliance did not make employees whole.”

Gabriel accepted every demand.

He did not call the payment charity.

It was money workers had already earned.

Iris joined the audit committee.

She refused a permanent executive position.
