Chapter 10 - THE BOARDROOM COUP

Richard called an emergency shareholder meeting.

Camille joined through her attorney.

Matthew appeared from the hospital.

Gabriel attended without the chief executive title.

Iris entered as representative of the employee trust.

Richard objected immediately.

“She is household staff.”

Iris placed the trust agreement on the table.

“Employees have observer rights during meetings involving suspected misuse of their funds.”

Richard had forgotten the clause.

Matthew drafted it years earlier.

He never imagined workers would use it against him.

Richard displayed Dr. Shaw’s incapacity report.

He showed the terrace video of Gabriel pushing Camille toward the pool.

He showed photographs of Gabriel unconscious after drugged drinks.

He argued that Gabriel was violent, confused, and incapable.

Then Iris played the full living room recording.

Camille planting the bracelet.

Scattering cash.

Striking Iris.

Demanding the ledgers.

The board watched the entire scene.

Context destroyed the edited story.

Iris presented the financial transfers.

Forty-two million from restoration accounts.

Eighteen million from employee retirement funds.

Nine million from medical reserves.

Richard’s companies appeared on every list.

Matthew identified each approval.

“I signed them.”

“Richard designed them.”

“Camille provided Gabriel’s credentials.”

Gabriel spoke last.

“I am not asking to return as chief executive.”

“I am asking the board not to give control to the people accused of drugging me and murdering two members of this company’s community.”

Richard interrupted.

“You are allowing a servant to destroy a family institution.”

Iris looked at him.

“No.”

“We are describing what your family did.”

The employee director called for a vote.

Camille’s shares were frozen under the criminal-conduct clause.

Richard owned no direct voting interest.

Matthew’s authority was suspended.

The board removed every Langley representative.

Employees received three permanent seats.

The motion passed unanimously.

Richard stared at Gabriel.

“You will lose the estate.”
