Gabriel read the sentence twice.
The public story had appealed to him at first.
The husband entering at the perfect second.
The cruel wife punished.
The innocent worker protected.
That version hid everything he missed before the terrace doors opened.

Irisâs education.
Employee complaints.
His drugged evenings.
Matthewâs access.
Camilleâs control over the household.
The dramatic rescue was easier than accepting years of blindness.
Gabriel wrote one response.
Iris did not give me heroism.
She gave investigators evidence.
