Adrian changed his defense.
At first.
The plate slipped during a heated argument.
Then the photographs appeared.
So the story became.
He intentionally threw the plate onto the table.
It accidentally hit me.
Then Maya testified.
Then Lucas.
Then the basement recording.
Finally, Adrian admitted he swung it.
But he claimed he had no intention to cause serious injury.
That might have mattered legally.
It did not matter to me.
He chose an object.
Raised his arm.
Used force.
Because I said no.
The divorce filing became simple after that.
Separate condo.
Separate design business.
Marital investments divided.
Protective order.
Adrian initially asked for temporary access to the condo.
Denied.
Then he claimed improvements during marriage created an ownership interest.
Possible financial reimbursement.
Not title.
I agreed to a neutral appraisal.
He seemed surprised.
“You’re not fighting everything?”
“No.”
“I’m fighting what matters.”
That unsettled him.
He had spent years learning from a family where every dispute became war.
Fairness looked suspicious.
Then Naomi uncovered the $580,000 development bonus Adrian expected.
He had not disclosed it on preliminary financial paperwork.
His divorce lawyer withdrew from one portion of the case after learning about the omission.
Adrian’s credibility collapsed further.
Then something stranger happened.
He began cooperating with the corporate investigation against Charles.
Not because he suddenly became heroic.
Because Charles blamed him.
Publicly.
Charles told lenders Adrian’s “domestic instability” had caused the condo transaction to fail.
