Chapter 5 — The Boardroom Execution

The next morning, the Morrison Group headquarters looked different.
At least, that was how Adrian felt.
The marble floors were the same.
The executives still wore expensive suits.
The walls still carried his name.
But something invisible had changed.
The building no longer belonged to him.
Adrian entered the boardroom expecting fear.
Instead, he found silence.
Mara was already there.
Eight months pregnant.
Sitting at the head of the table.
The sight made him stop.
“You.”
Mara looked up.
“Good morning, Adrian.”
“You think this is some kind of game?”
“No.”
She opened the folder in front of her.
“It’s a correction.”
The board members watched silently.
Adrian laughed.
A desperate sound.
“You have no idea what you’re doing.”
Mara turned a page.
“Interesting.”
She looked at the executives.
“Because that is exactly what Adrian said every time he made a decision without understanding the consequences.”
The room remained quiet.
Then Mara began presenting.
Every hidden debt.
Every illegal financial shortcut.
Every personal expense disguised as company investment.
Every secret account.
Everything Adrian thought was invisible.
Piece by piece, she placed his empire on the table.
By the end, nobody looked at Adrian.
They looked at Mara.
Not as a wife.
Not as a supporting figure.
But as the person who had saved the company from its own leader.
The chairman removed his glasses.
“Adrian.”
He paused.
“You’re suspended effective immediately.”
The room went silent.
Adrian stared.
“No.”
Nobody moved.
“You can’t do this.”
Mara looked at him.
“You taught me something.”
Her voice lowered.
“Power belongs to the person who understands it.”
For the first time in years, Adrian Morrison looked afraid.
Not angry.
Not arrogant.
Afraid.
Because he finally realized something.
May you like
He had spent years trying to destroy Mara.
But he had only created the person who could destroy him.
