Chapter 1 — The First Domino

The moment Mara pressed Authorize, somewhere deep inside the financial world, a silent machine began moving.

No alarms rang.

No glass shattered.

No dramatic announcement echoed through the mansion.

That was what made it terrifying.

Adrian Morrison had spent fifteen years believing destruction arrived loudly. He imagined enemies breaking down doors, lawsuits appearing on his desk, investors screaming into phones.

He never imagined the person who would dismantle him would be the woman lying injured on the bedroom floor.

His wife.

The woman he had dismissed as fragile.

The woman he believed existed only to support his ambition.

Downstairs, Adrian raised a champagne glass beneath the golden lights of the lounge.

“To another successful year,” he announced confidently.

The investors laughed. The music grew louder. Vanessa stood beside him, already imagining herself wearing Mara’s diamonds and sitting behind Adrian’s desk.

Neither of them noticed the first message appearing on Adrian’s private executive tablet.

NOTICE: Ownership restructuring initiated.

A second notification followed.

Primary control transfer approved.

Adrian’s smile remained frozen.

“What’s wrong?” Vanessa whispered.

He ignored her.

His fingers moved quickly across the screen.

Impossible.

The Morrison Group had dozens of protections. He had built everything himself.

Or at least, that was what he believed.

Upstairs, Mara slowly pushed herself upright against the bed.

Every movement hurt.

But pain was temporary.

Power was permanent.

She looked at the cracked phone in her hand and whispered:

“Your empire was never yours, Adrian.”
