Chapter 7 – The Fall of Richard Harrington

One week later, the boardroom of Harrington Commercial Group was filled with tense silence.

Richard stood at the head of the polished conference table, attempting to reassure anxious investors.

"This company has survived challenges before."

Before he could continue, the conference room doors opened.

Two FBI agents walked inside, followed by investigators from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.

Every conversation stopped.

One agent unfolded a warrant.

"Richard James Harrington?"

Richard's voice remained steady.

"Yes."

"You are under arrest for securities fraud, wire fraud, forgery, money laundering, and conspiracy."

The room exploded with shocked whispers.

Richard looked toward his attorneys.

None of them moved.

He turned toward the directors who had praised him for years.

Every face looked away.

The lead agent continued reading his rights while another placed handcuffs around Richard's wrists.

The metallic click echoed through the boardroom.

For a man who had spent his life believing money solved every problem...

It was the loudest sound he had ever heard.

News spread across Pennsylvania within minutes.

Television helicopters hovered above the company headquarters.

Financial channels interrupted regular programming.

"Harrington Commercial CEO Arrested."

The headline appeared on every major network.

Inside a quiet nursery across town, Khloe turned the television off before the report finished.

She didn't want her daughter entering the world surrounded by anger.

She wanted peace.

Harrison stepped into the room.

"It's over."

Khloe looked down at the tiny crib they had assembled together.

"No."

She smiled gently.

"It'll be over when she comes home."

As if answering her mother, the baby kicked strongly beneath Khloe's hand.

For the first time in months...

Khloe laughed.

Not because Richard had fallen.

But because she had finally stopped living in fear.

The future no longer belonged to the man who betrayed her.

It belonged to the little girl waiting to be born.
