Chapter 4 – The Hearing

The Montgomery County Courthouse buzzed long before the hearing began.

Reporters crowded the entrance. Camera flashes bounced off the marble walls as attorneys hurried through security carrying thick case files. News of the Harrington divorce had spread beyond Philadelphia's business community. Everyone wanted to know why one of the state's wealthiest CEOs was suddenly under investigation.

Richard stepped from his black sedan wearing an expensive charcoal suit. His expression remained composed, but the dark circles beneath his eyes betrayed weeks of sleepless nights.

Vanessa walked beside him in a designer cream dress, determined to project confidence.

"They're only trying to scare us," she whispered.

Richard didn't answer.

Across the plaza, another vehicle quietly arrived.

Harrison exited first.

Then he opened the rear door.

Khloe stepped onto the pavement.

A collective silence swept through the crowd.

She wore a simple navy maternity dress beneath a light wool coat. Her pregnancy was unmistakable, yet she carried herself with calm dignity. She did not look like a broken woman.

She looked like someone who had finally stopped being afraid.

Richard froze.

For the first time in nearly a month, their eyes met.

He took one hesitant step forward.

"Khloe..."

She kept walking.

Harrison intercepted him effortlessly.

"My client has nothing to discuss outside the courtroom."

"She's my wife."

"For now."

The words landed harder than any insult.

Inside Courtroom Three, Judge Eleanor Whitmore reviewed the filings in silence before looking over her glasses.

"Mr. Cole."

Harrison rose.

"Your Honor, we request an immediate injunction preserving all marital assets and permission to expand discovery based on newly uncovered evidence of fraud."

Richard's attorney stood immediately.

"Objection. These allegations are speculative."

Harrison placed a binder on the clerk's desk.

"Exhibit One."

Another.

"Exhibit Two."

Then another.

"Through Exhibit Forty-Seven."

The courtroom grew quiet.

For the next hour Harrison methodically dismantled Richard's financial empire.

Shell corporations.

Forged signatures.

Hidden offshore accounts.

Luxury purchases disguised as corporate expenses.

Each document fit together like pieces of a puzzle.

Judge Whitmore finally removed her glasses.

"Mr. Harrington..."

Her voice turned cold.

"Would you care to explain why your wife's signature appears on documents verified by two handwriting experts as fraudulent?"

Richard looked toward his attorney.

For the first time in his career...

He had no answer.

Outside the courthouse, reporters rushed to file breaking news.

The hearing had only begun.

But Richard Harrington was already losing.

And Harrison Cole wasn't even halfway finished.
