Chapter 18 – Forgiveness

One year later...

The Monroe investigation was officially closed.

Several executives faced prison sentences.

Millions were recovered.

Cross Capital emerged stronger than ever.

But the biggest change wasn't financial.

It was personal.

Evelyn met Damian one final time.

Not in anger.

Not in pain.

Simply as two people who shared a history.

They sat across from each other in a quiet café.

"I wanted to thank you."

"For what?"

"For letting me see my children."

Evelyn nodded.

"They deserve a father who tries."

Damian smiled sadly.

"I wasted so many years."

"Yes."

"I can't change that."

"No."

"But I can change what comes next."

She looked at him.

"That's all anyone can do."

Before leaving, Damian handed her a small envelope.

Inside was a letter.

For the twins.

"When they're old enough."

Evelyn looked at the envelope.

"I hope they understand."

"They will."

She stood.

"Goodbye, Damian."

He smiled faintly.

"Goodbye, Evelyn."

This time...

There was no anger.

Only acceptance.
