Chapter 14 – The Last Heir

Thomas Reed had spent thirty years waiting.

Thirty years standing beside the Morgan family.

Thirty years watching powerful people destroy themselves with the secrets he helped bury.

And now...

the final move had begun.

He looked at the old contract on his desk.

The document Richard Morgan signed before his death.

A document that nobody else knew existed.

A document that could change everything.

Thomas smiled.

"Richard always underestimated me."

At the Morgan estate, Daniel gathered everyone in the living room.

For the first time in years, the entire truth was finally coming together.

Rebecca.

Victor.

Michael.

His father.

The hidden crimes.

The stolen identities.

But one person remained untouched.

Thomas Reed.

Daniel looked at Michael.

"You knew about him."

Michael nodded slowly.

"I suspected."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I didn't know how deep it went."

Laura placed several documents on the table.

"We searched Thomas Reed's office."

"And?"

"We found connections."

"Old payments."

"Hidden accounts."

"Transfers linked to Richard Morgan."

Daniel looked at the files.

"So he helped my father hide everything."

Michael shook his head.

"Not just hide."

"He controlled it."

Meanwhile, Thomas sat in his office watching the investigation unfold.

His assistant entered nervously.

"Mr. Reed."

"They're getting closer."

Thomas didn't even look up.

"They always do."

"What should we do?"

Thomas closed the folder.

"Prepare the final announcement."

The assistant hesitated.

"Are you sure?"

Thomas smiled.

"Daniel Morgan believes family is built on love."

"He forgot one thing."

"In powerful families..."

"blood and money always win."

That evening, Daniel received an unexpected visitor.

Rebecca.

Under police supervision.

She stood at the doorway, looking completely different from the woman who had attacked his children.

No anger.

No arrogance.

Only exhaustion.

"Why are you here?" Daniel asked.

Rebecca looked at Mateo and Sofia.

Then lowered her eyes.

"I need to tell you something."

Daniel remained silent.

"The attack on your house..."

"I didn't order it."

Everyone froze.

Laura stepped forward.

"What?"

Rebecca swallowed.

"I wanted to scare you."

"I wanted you to lose control."

"But I didn't send those men."

"Someone else did."

Daniel stared at her.

"Who?"

Rebecca looked at him.

"Thomas Reed."

Nobody spoke.

Because suddenly everything made sense.

Thomas had access.

Thomas had information.

Thomas had power.

And Thomas had a reason.

Rebecca continued:

"He found me years ago."

"He told me the Morgan family stole my life."

"He gave me documents."

"Proof that I was Richard Morgan's daughter."

"But he didn't do it to help me."

"He used me."

Daniel's expression hardened.

"How?"

Rebecca looked ashamed.

"He told me if I destroyed you..."

"I would become the rightful owner of everything."

The next morning, Thomas Reed called a press conference.

Every major news station arrived.

He stood in front of cameras with a calm expression.

"I have spent my entire career protecting the Morgan legacy."

"Unfortunately, recent events have revealed disturbing truths."

Behind him appeared documents.

"This evidence proves Daniel Morgan has been hiding financial crimes connected to his father's empire."

Reporters shouted questions.

Thomas continued:

"For the protection of shareholders..."

"I am filing for emergency control of Morgan Industries."

At the Morgan estate, the television broadcast played.

Daniel watched silently.

"He planned this."

Laura nodded.

"He wants the company."

Isabella looked at the screen.

"But why now?"

Michael answered quietly.

"Because he believes Daniel has no one left."

Everyone looked at him.

Michael continued:

"He thinks the family is broken."

"But he doesn't understand something."

"What?"

Michael looked at Daniel.

"The thing that makes this family dangerous..."

"...is that they finally know the truth."

That night, Daniel entered his father's old office.

For the first time, he wasn't looking for secrets.

He was looking for answers.

Behind an old bookshelf, he discovered a hidden compartment.

Inside was a small envelope.

His father's handwriting was on the front.

For Daniel.

His hands shook as he opened it.

The letter began:

My son,

If you are reading this, then Thomas has finally made his move.

I know you will hate me for many things.

You should.

But there is one thing you must know.

I never wanted my empire to belong to Thomas Reed.

I created a final protection.

A way for the Morgan family to survive.

Daniel turned the page.

The final sentence made his heart stop.

The true heir of Morgan Industries was never me.

It was never Rebecca.

It was always the child who showed more kindness than any Morgan before him.

Daniel stared.

Then slowly looked toward the hallway.

Where Mateo stood watching.

The boy who had protected Sofia.

The boy who had chosen love over revenge.

The boy his grandfather had never understood.

And Daniel realized...

Richard's final plan had never been about money.

May you like

It had been about finding the one person worthy of saving the family name.

Mateo Morgan.
