Savannah accepted a plea agreement in the corporate-fraud case.
She avoided prison but received probation, restitution, and a permanent bar from working in regulated financial consulting.
Ethan received a lengthy sentence.
He had stolen millions and attempted a hostile seizure using fraud.
Margaret avoided criminal charges but faced civil penalties and permanent removal from Vale governance.
Helen settled.
Richard retired to Maine.
The empire shrank.
Then stabilized.
Six months later, Savannah asked Claire for permission to publish a statement.
Not a tell-all interview.
One statement.
Claire said she did not need permission.
Savannah released it anyway.
I lied about being pregnant because I wanted a married man to choose me.
I also accepted money to record him for people trying to manipulate his company.
I told myself his wife was weak because that made my choices easier to justify.
She was not weak.
I was simply depending on her silence.
Claire read it once.
Then closed the page.
No public response.
No social media.
No revenge.
Savannah’s apology could exist without Claire participating in it.
Adrian eventually saw Savannah once more during legal proceedings.
He later told Claire.
“She asked if I ever loved her.”
“What did you say?”
“That I loved what she made me feel like.”
Claire nodded.
“Important distinction.”
Adrian smiled sadly.
“Yes.”
Then he asked.
“Did you love me?”
Claire looked at him.
“Very much.”
That hurt him more than no would have.
