Chapter 11 - THE ORIGINAL EMBRYO

Independent genetic tests confirmed Dr. Bell’s final claim.
The baby was Alexander and Elena’s biological son.
The embryo had been created four years earlier during their final fertility treatment.
Dr. Bell secretly preserved it after Alexander authorized the clinic to destroy the remaining samples.
Cynthia later ordered him to implant Elena with an embryo linked to Julian.
Dr. Bell switched the samples.
He used Alexander and Elena’s embryo instead.
His decision saved the baby from Julian’s plan.
It did not excuse anything else.
Dr. Bell had falsified records, drugged Elena, concealed her captivity, and helped create the false pregnancy.
He claimed he acted from fear.
Elena called it cowardice.
The baby remained in neonatal care.
Alexander visited daily but never entered without Elena’s permission.
She had not decided whether she wanted him near her son.
She also refused to return to the Whitmore mansion.
The rooms, photographs, and family name had become connected to her imprisonment.
Marcus arranged a secure apartment under a temporary identity.
I visited with Lily.
The moment Elena saw my daughter, she began crying.
“You were the child,” Elena said.
Lily looked confused.
“What child?”
“The one who saw the pillow.”
Lily glanced at me.
“I just told the truth.”
Elena smiled through her tears.
“That truth saved my life.”
Lily approached the hospital bassinet.
The baby’s hand closed around her finger.
“What is his name?” she asked.
Elena looked toward Alexander through the glass wall.
“I haven’t chosen one.”
Alexander lowered his head.
He understood that naming the child belonged to Elena.
The reunion was interrupted when Marcus arrived with new information.
The trust document Alexander carried to Blackwater Lake was a copy.
The original remained inside Richard Whitmore’s private vault.
Richard had disappeared.
His staff found his study empty.
The vault stood open.
The original trust was gone.
So was a sealed letter written by Margaret Lane before her death.
Security footage showed Richard leaving the estate with a suitcase.

He was not alone.
Vanessa sat beside him in the car.
