The custody folder contained photographs.
Me crying at Daniel’s funeral.
Me sleeping on the sofa three days later.
Me raising my voice during an argument with Eleanor.
Me carrying Lily away from Hart Manor after Eleanor tried to keep her overnight without permission.
Every image had been labeled.
Emotional volatility.
Severe grief reaction.
Parental alienation.
Potential flight risk.
Dr. Malcolm Price, a psychiatrist employed by the Hart Foundation, had prepared an evaluation.
He had never met me.
The report described me as unstable, impulsive, and financially motivated.
It recommended temporary guardianship for Eleanor.
The draft petition claimed Daniel had expressed concerns about my parenting before his death.
Daniel’s own archive proved the opposite.
He recorded a meeting with Dr. Price.
“You will not diagnose my wife through photographs.”
“Your mother is concerned.”
“My mother is interested in Lily’s shares.”
“That sounds paranoid.”
“It sounds accurate.”
The recording ended when Daniel ordered Price out of his office.
After Daniel died, Eleanor presented the same doctor as a grief specialist.
I attended one session.
He asked detailed questions about Lily’s trust.
I never returned.
Eleanor later told relatives that I rejected help.
The file contained the next stage of their plan.
Julian would accuse me of stealing the brooch during the charity gala.
The brooch would be found inside Lily’s clothing.
If I reacted emotionally, security footage would support the psychiatric report.
Julian would provoke me physically.
A public assault would allow Eleanor to request emergency custody.
The plan was written like a theater schedule.

Brooch reported missing.
8:20 p.m.
Search initiated.
8:25 p.m.
Item recovered from child.
8:30 p.m.
Evelyn removed.
9:00 p.m.
Child transferred to Hart Manor.
They expected me to leave in police custody.
Lily would go with Eleanor.
The guardianship petition had already been filed under seal.
The judge had not signed it.
The evidence from the gala was supposed to create urgency.
My kick became part of their story.
The ballroom camera showed Julian slapping me.
It also showed him stepping toward Lily.
The family’s attorneys released only the moment my foot struck his chest.
News outlets called me violent.
Some called Lily a thief.
The Hart Foundation issued a statement expressing concern for the child’s welfare.
Eleanor stood before cameras.

The language was familiar.

Until then, a temporary order prevented Eleanor and Julian from contacting Lily.
Eleanor violated it within six hours.
A package arrived at my house.
