The frozen accounts revealed where Reed had been moving money.
Not all eighteen million belonged to him.
Six million had come from Maren’s marital trust.
Four million from foundation consulting entities.
Three million from a medical-device licensing account.
The rest came from loans secured against Whitaker-linked assets.
Reed had created shell companies with names designed to look ordinary.

North Coast Advisory.
MWH Strategic Services.
Money moved between them.
Then toward a Cayman account controlled by Graham Voss.
The third dead-switch press stopped a pending $4 million transfer seconds before completion.
Reed had believed it cleared that morning.
It had not.
Maren’s father designed the freeze authority to trigger whenever unauthorized transfer patterns matched certain conditions.
“He anticipated this?”
Maren asked.
“He anticipated greed.”
Evelyn replied.
“Greed changes names.”
“The pattern doesn’t.”
Then another account surfaced.
CELESTE HART FAMILY TRUST.
Balance.
$2.1 million.
Celeste had not been broke for years.
Every tear about rent.
Every emergency.
Every loan Maren gave her.
Celeste had money.
She simply preferred spending Maren’s.
That hurt in a small, humiliating way.
Maren remembered paying Celeste’s electric bill.
Buying her groceries.
Covering therapy.
Celeste accepted each kindness while secretly holding millions connected to the people undermining her sister.
Maren closed the financial report.
“No more.”
Evelyn looked at her.
“No more what?”
“Trying to understand why she hated me.”
