Chapter 11 - GRAHAM VOSS RAN

Graham left through a private airfield.
Too late to disappear.
The dead-switch archive had already alerted federal financial investigators because the shell-company transfers crossed multiple jurisdictions.
His aircraft was tracked.
It landed in Nevada.
Then Graham switched cars.
He made it as far as Utah before authorities stopped him.
In the vehicle were two phones.
Cash.
Passports.
And a drive containing Whitaker Medical internal records.
The drive included folders going back seventeen years.
One was labeled.
EVELYN.
Another.
MAREN VEHICLE.
Another.
SUCCESSION.
Maren sat in silence while her attorney described them.
“Can we open everything?”
“Investigators are imaging the drive first.”
“What about the vehicle folder?”
“We have a preliminary copy.”
Inside were messages between Graham and Reed.
Before Maren’s crash.
GRAHAM:
She cannot be at the vote tomorrow.
REED:
I can delay her.
GRAHAM:
No permanent damage.
REED:
Understood.
Maren read that sentence repeatedly.
No permanent damage.
Then Reed.
Car issue handled.
She will have to call roadside assistance.
The next morning, the car went through a guardrail.
No permanent damage.
Maren looked down at her legs.
The phrase was almost unbearable.
Reed had not intended to paralyze her.
That did not comfort her.
Intent is not a magic eraser for consequences.
Then another message.
After the crash.
REED:
She can’t feel her legs.
GRAHAM:
Say nothing.
REED:
This wasn’t the plan.
GRAHAM:
Then adapt.
May you like
And Reed had.
For six years.
