Chapter 10 - THE BOARDROOM WITHOUT MAREN

Whitaker Medical called an emergency board meeting.
Maren attended by video.
For years, Reed sat beside her during board sessions.
Now his chair was empty.
Graham Voss still held an honorary advisory seat.
He joined remotely from Santa Barbara.
Smiling.
Concerned.
Performing grief.
“Maren.”
He said.
“I cannot express how horrified I am.”
Maren stared at him.
“Try.”
His smile weakened.
“I beg your pardon?”
“Try expressing it.”
The room went silent.
Graham recovered.
“I considered Reed family.”
“So did I.”
“Maren, if there are financial irregularities, I want a full investigation.”
“Good.”
She lifted a document.
“We found your Cayman account.”
Graham stopped moving.
The independent directors turned toward him.
Maren continued.
“Four million dollars was scheduled to arrive from a Reed-controlled entity.”
“There are earlier payments too.”
Graham said.
“I advise multiple private companies.”
“No.”
Maren replied.
“You advised my husband on how to transfer money out of entities I control.”
“That allegation is outrageous.”
“So is poisoning salmon.”
He flinched.
Maren saw it.
Then she used the Founder Shares.
For the first time.
“I move to suspend Graham Voss from every advisory, honorary, consulting, and foundation role pending investigation.”
Seconded.
Vote.
Passed.
Graham’s screen went black before the secretary finished reading the result.
He had disconnected.
