Chapter 9 - SOPHIA TURNS
Sophia arrived at the tower an hour later.
She walked into Julian's office carrying a suitcase.
Julian looked at her.
"What is that?"
"My things."
"Where are you going?"
"Anywhere you aren't."
Julian stood.
"After everything I've done for you?"
Sophia laughed bitterly.
"You mean after everything you've promised me?"
He stepped closer.
"You knew who I was."
"I knew what you told me."
She opened the suitcase.
Inside were documents.
Recordings.
Photographs.
"These are going to the investigators."
Julian froze.
"You wouldn't."
"I already did."
He grabbed her wrist.
Sophia pulled away.
"Don't touch me."
Claire entered the office.
Julian turned.
She saw the fear in his face.
"Claire."
She ignored him.
She looked at Sophia.
"Are you ready?"
Sophia nodded.
"I'm done."
Julian stared at both women.
Two women he had believed he controlled.
Now standing together.
Against him.
He sank into his chair.
"You don't understand."
Claire looked at him.
"No."
She answered calmly.
"You don't understand."
"What?"
"You thought your power came from money."
She stepped closer.
"It came from our fear."
Then she turned toward the door.
