Chapter 11 - THE SECOND BODY
A new clue arrived from Paris.
A private investigator found the remains of the man whose identity Julian had used after the fake crash.
The man had died three years earlier.
Julian had taken his identity.
But the investigator discovered something else.
A second body.
Unidentified.
A man connected to Edward Vale.
Claire's father saw the photograph.
His face became pale.
"I know him."
"Who?"
"Daniel Cross."
"Who was he?"
"The lawyer who helped me expose Edward."
Claire stared.
"If he's dead, Edward killed him."
Her father nodded.
"But Edward has been dead for five years."
Silence.
Claire looked at him.
"Then someone continued his work."
Her father slowly nodded.
"Exactly."
The conspiracy was bigger than Julian.
Someone had preserved Edward's network.
Someone had trained Julian.
Someone had protected his secrets.
And that someone was still free.
Claire turned toward the window.
"Find him."
Her father looked at her.
"We will."
She shook her head.
"No."
She turned around.
