Robert Kane was arrested at a motel near the state border.
After six hours of questioning, he confessed.
Victor had paid him to sabotage Ethan’s car.
The crash was supposed to look accidental.

Claire said.
“If she wants that too.”
Ethan nodded.
“I’ll earn it.”

The criminal trial began five months later.

Rebecca’s testimony.

Victor’s story collapsed piece by piece.
On the fourth day, he finally lost control.
He turned toward Claire.
“Your father stole my family’s future.”
Claire met his eyes.
“No.”
“Your father lied to you.”
Victor froze.
Claire continued.
“And instead of finding the truth, you built your life around the lie.”
Security pulled Victor back as he shouted.
Claire did not move.
