Chapter 9: The Heir Who Was Erased

Alejandro stared at the name on the document.

His hands went cold.

Gabriel Aranda.

His uncle.

The man everyone believed had died in a car accident twenty years earlier.

The man whose photograph had been removed from every hallway in the mansion.

The man nobody in the family ever mentioned.

“Impossible,” Alejandro whispered.

The lawyer adjusted his glasses.

“I thought the same thing. But the documents are real.”

Valeria looked at Alejandro.

“Who was he?”

Alejandro slowly sat down.

“Gabriel was my father’s older brother.”

He looked toward the old family portrait hanging above the fireplace.

“My grandfather always said he abandoned the family.”

The lawyer shook his head.

“He didn’t abandon them.”

He placed another document on the table.

“He was removed.”

Silence filled the room.

Alejandro opened the file.

Inside were records of hidden bank accounts, private companies, and years of secret transactions.

Gabriel had not disappeared.

He had been building evidence.

Evidence against the Aranda family.

“He knew,” Alejandro said.

Valeria looked at him.

“Knew what?”

“That the family fortune was built on stolen wealth.”

The lawyer nodded.

“And he tried to expose it.”

Alejandro looked confused.

“Then why create a trust controlling everything?”

The lawyer answered carefully.

“Because he believed one day someone honest would inherit the empire.”

Valeria touched the document.

“Someone honest?”

The lawyer looked at Alejandro.

“Your uncle left a condition.”

Alejandro frowned.

“What condition?”

The lawyer opened the final page.

“The heir must publicly acknowledge the crimes committed by the Aranda family and return the stolen assets to the rightful owners.”

Alejandro felt the weight of those words.

His entire life had been about expanding the empire.

More buildings.

More money.

More power.

Now he had a choice.

Protect everything his family built…

or destroy it to make things right.

“What happens if I refuse?” he asked.

The lawyer answered:

“The trust transfers control to another person.”

“Who?”

The lawyer looked at Valeria.

Alejandro immediately understood.

“No.”

Valeria looked surprised.

“Why are you saying no?”

“Because they will target you again.”

She shook her head.

“Alejandro, they already did.”

She held his hand.

“But this time, I won’t stand alone.”

Those words changed him.

For years, he thought he had to choose between love and power.

Now he realized the real choice was between fear and courage.

The next day, Alejandro called a press conference.

The world expected an announcement about a new Aranda project.

Instead, cameras captured him walking onto the stage with Valeria beside him.

Reporters shouted questions.

“Mr. Aranda, is it true your family is involved in a legal investigation?”

“Are you losing control of the company?”

Alejandro looked directly into the cameras.

“Yes.”

The room became silent.

“I am here today to tell the truth.”

Across the city, millions watched.

And inside the old Aranda mansion, Doña Esther watched from a television screen.

Because she knew one thing.

Once the truth became public…

there was no way to put it back in the dark.

And Alejandro was about to do the one thing no Aranda had ever done before.

May you like

He was going to destroy the empire…

to save the family name.
