Chapter 8: The Letter That Changed Everything

The next morning, the Aranda mansion was silent.

For the first time in years, there were no family meetings.

No whispered conversations.

No carefully planned lies.

Only the sound of rain falling against the windows.

Alejandro sat in the library with Valeria beside him.

The same room where his father had made countless decisions that shaped the empire.

Now, it held the one thing that could destroy it.

The old envelope.

Valeria reached for his hand.

“You don’t have to open it alone.”

Alejandro looked at her.

For so long, he had believed being strong meant carrying everything by himself.

Now he understood strength was trusting someone enough to share the weight.

He carefully opened the envelope.

Inside was a handwritten letter.

The paper was old.

The ink had faded.

But the words were clear.

To whoever discovers this truth,

The Aranda fortune was not built only through hard work. A part of it was taken from the Navarro family during a business dispute decades ago.

Alejandro continued reading.

His expression changed.

“What does it say?”

He swallowed.

“My grandfather admits everything.”

The letter explained how his grandfather had manipulated contracts, hidden ownership records, and used his influence to take control of valuable properties that belonged to Isabel Navarro’s family.

But the next paragraph made Alejandro stop.

Because it mentioned his father.

Ricardo knew the truth. I begged him to correct my mistakes. Instead, he chose to protect the Aranda name at any cost.

Valeria covered her mouth.

“He knew.”

Alejandro nodded.

“He continued it.”

The final lines were written differently.

As if the writer had been afraid.

If my family discovers this letter, they will try to destroy it. They have forgotten that wealth without honor is nothing.

Alejandro closed his eyes.

His entire life had been built on a lie.

The company.

The mansion.

The reputation.

Everything carried a shadow.

“I don’t know who I am anymore,” he whispered.

Valeria turned toward him.

“You are not your family’s mistakes.”

He looked at her.

“You believe that?”

“Yes.”

She placed his hand over her stomach.

“Our child will not grow up learning that power matters more than people.”

Those words reached somewhere deep inside him.

For the first time, Alejandro imagined a future different from the one his family designed.

A future without fear.

Without manipulation.

Without pretending.

But before they could decide what to do next, Alejandro’s lawyer arrived at the mansion.

His face was serious.

“Mr. Aranda, there is another problem.”

Alejandro stood.

“What now?”

The lawyer placed a folder on the table.

“Your father created a hidden trust before his death.”

Valeria frowned.

“What kind of trust?”

The lawyer opened the file.

“One that controls the entire Aranda empire.”

Alejandro looked at the documents.

“And who controls it?”

The lawyer hesitated.

Then said:

“Someone who was never supposed to be found.”

Alejandro read the name.

And his entire world stopped.

May you like

Because the person controlling his family’s fortune…

was someone he thought had been dead for twenty years.
