Chapter 6 - VANESSA'S SECOND PLAN

Vanessa did not leave quietly.
She left angry.
Then she became strategic.
Two days later, I received a letter from her attorney.
It accused me of elder abuse.
Financial coercion.
Wrongful eviction.
Emotional cruelty.
I almost admired the creativity.
My attorney laughed when he saw it.
"They're trying to scare you."
"Are they?"
"Absolutely."
He tapped the table.
"But they made one mistake."
"What?"
"They put everything in writing."
Over the next week, we built the case.
Every unauthorized renovation.
Every unpaid utility bill.
Every message.
Every bank inquiry.
Then my attorney discovered something worse.
Vanessa had opened a separate bank account using a variation of my name.
She had redirected several invoices.
She had even contacted one of my tenants.
Claiming to be property manager.
My attorney stared at me.
"She's been preparing for this for months."
I felt something cold settle inside me.
This wasn't about one Easter party.
It was about control.
She had planned to take pieces of my life until there was nothing left.
I asked for copies of everything.
"Send them to me."
He raised an eyebrow.
"What are you going to do?"
I smiled.
May you like
"I'm going back to work."
