Chapter 4 - The Silver Bracelets

The officer didn't hesitate.

He marched straight toward Preston.

"Preston Vance, turn around and put your hands behind your back."

Preston stumbled backward in shock.

"Wait, wait, you can't be serious!"

"It's my wedding day!"

"I'm the groom!"

The officer grabbed his shoulder and spun him around roughly.

"You're under arrest for aggravated assault on a minor."

The metallic click of the handcuffs echoed through the quiet room.

Preston's new bride let out a piercing scream.

"Preston!"

She threw her bouquet onto the floor.

My mother grabbed the officer's arm.

"You can't do this."

"Do you know who we are?"

"We will ruin your career!"

The officer stared coldly at my mother.

"Ma'am, if you touch me again, you'll be joining him in the back of a squad car for assaulting an officer."

My mother snatched her hand back as if she had been burned.

Preston was sobbing now.

His custom tuxedo jacket was twisted and wrinkled.

His golden boy image was shattered in an instant.

They marched him right down the ivory aisle runner.
