Chapter 6 - Bianca Wanted Protection
Bianca’s attorney contacted Marisol.
That surprised me.
“She wants to cooperate.”
Marisol said.
“Why?”
“Because she believes Adrian will blame the forged contracts on her.”
I almost smiled.
Cowards always discover honesty when consequences get close.
We agreed to a recorded meeting.
Bianca arrived wearing beige instead of red.
No dramatic lipstick.
No smug smile.
She looked tired.
“I never forged your signature.”
She said immediately.
“I didn’t ask.”
“But you think I did.”
“I think you accepted money from my company without ever speaking to me.”
Her jaw tightened.
“Adrian said you approved the contract.”
“Did you believe him?”
“At first.”
“And later?”
Silence.
That answered enough.
Bianca admitted Adrian told her our marriage was effectively over.
He claimed I refused divorce because of business optics.
He told her Genevieve considered Bianca a better fit for the family.
That part was probably true.
“When did the affair start?”
“Eleven months ago.”
The same month Adrian signed the postnuptial agreement.
Perfect.
He had signed protections for me while beginning a relationship with her.
“Did Genevieve know?”
Bianca looked down.
“By the second month.”
“Did Graham?”
“I don’t know.”
“Did Elodie?”
“No.”
“Why were you in my seat?”
Bianca’s eyes filled with embarrassment.
“Genevieve told me to sit there.”
“And you did.”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
She swallowed.
“Because she said it was time everyone understood the future.”
That sentence settled something inside me.
Then Bianca pulled out her phone.
“There are messages.”
Genevieve had texted her before the wedding.
Wear red.
Sit beside Adrian.
Do not move if Isla objects.
She needs to learn that public scenes only damage her.
Another message.
Once she sits elsewhere, the hierarchy becomes visible.
Hierarchy.
I almost admired the arrogance.
Genevieve had turned a wedding reception into a coronation for a mistress.
Then Bianca showed me the final message.
If Isla leaves, let her.
Monday solves the rest.
