Chapter 5 - Victoria's Secret
Victoria went to the family estate that afternoon.
Her father was waiting.
“Did they arrest her?”
“Yes.”
“And Nathan?”
“He believes her.”
Her father slammed his glass onto the table.
“That cannot happen.”
Victoria looked terrified.
“Lily knows.”
“What?”
“She called him Daddy.”
Silence filled the room.
Her father slowly sat down.
“Then we have a problem.”
Victoria whispered, “What do we do?”
“Make Nathan believe Grace is dangerous.”
“The evidence?”
“Already handled.”
Victoria looked at him.
“You promised nobody would get hurt.”
Her father smiled.
“You wanted Nathan.”
“I still do.”
“Then stop thinking like a frightened girl.”
Victoria looked toward the window.
“What about Lily?”
Her father's expression hardened.
“The child is the key.”
Victoria understood.
If Nathan loved Lily, he would never marry her.
If Lily disappeared, Nathan would eventually return to Victoria.
But Victoria had forgotten one thing.
Nathan was no longer the obedient son his father had controlled.
He was a father now.
