Chapter 13 - The Confession

Victoria finally confessed.
She had known about Grace.
She had known about Lily.
She had known Nathan was searching.
But she had believed Richard would eventually make Grace disappear permanently.
“I never expected you to find her.”
Nathan's voice was cold.
“You attacked her.”
“I was afraid.”
“You tried to kill my daughter.”
“I never wanted Lily dead.”
“You raised a hockey stick over her.”
Victoria began crying.
“I wanted her gone.”
Nathan shook his head.
“That is the same thing.”
Victoria looked down.
“I loved you.”
“No.”
Nathan's answer was immediate.
“You loved what I represented.”
She said nothing.
“You loved the company.”
She lowered her head.
“And you loved the life my father promised you.”
Victoria whispered,
“I'm sorry.”
Nathan stared at her.
“Sorry doesn't give Grace five years back.”
He walked away.
Victoria called after him.
“Nathan!”
He stopped.
“There is something else.”
Nathan turned.
“Your father wasn't the person who started everything.”
Nathan's eyes narrowed.
“Who was?”
Victoria looked terrified.
May you like
“Your mother.”
