Gideon Vale’s trial began first.
Prosecutors charged him with fraud, conspiracy, kidnapping, witness intimidation, and obstruction.
The courtroom was filled with attorneys who once feared him.
He represented himself for the opening statement.
He said the case was driven by class resentment.
He described Elena as a disgruntled employee.
Samuel as a criminal.
Maya as a manipulated child.
Arthur as an unstable husband seeking revenge.
Then the recordings began.
Gideon threatening Elena’s children.
Gideon discussing Arthur’s medication.
Gideon ordering Charles to remove the greenhouse drive.
Bank records showed payments to Colombian officials.
Property documents showed forged seals.
Medical files showed planned incapacity.
His control depended on complicated explanations.
The evidence required only a timeline.
Samuel testified.
He described the false arrest.
The years in prison.
The letters returned unopened.
Gideon’s attorney asked why Samuel once worked for Vale Security if the family was corrupt.
Samuel answered:
“Because bad organizations do not tell new employees they are bad.”
Maya testified by recorded video.
She described the bracelet.
The slap.
Her mother’s warnings.
Gideon’s threats.
He watched the screen without expression.
The prosecutor asked Maya what she wanted from the court.
“I want adults to stop saying my mother was only a housekeeper.”
“What was she?”
“My mother.”
“The person who found the truth.”
“And the person they killed because they thought no one important would ask questions.”
Gideon finally looked down.
The jury convicted him on every major charge.
He received thirty-five years.
The judge said:
“You treated law as a curtain behind which power could commit ordinary crimes.”
