The birth date matched Claire’s mother.
The passport photograph did not.
The woman in the image was Mara Chen.
Claire stared at her former supervisor.
Mara did not deny it.
Detective Ruiz closed the conference-room door.
“Explain.”
Mara sat across from Claire.
“My name was not always Mara Chen.”
She had been born Emily Morgan.
Evelyn’s younger sister.
Claire’s aunt.
The woman who supposedly raised Claire after her mother’s death had not been Evelyn’s biological sister.
