Chapter 3 – Everyone Saw the Truth

The ballroom projector displayed crystal-clear footage from three different security cameras.

There was no sound.

It didn't need any.

Every movement was painfully obvious.

Lily stood quietly beside an empty chair, smoothing the skirt of her pink dress while looking for her mother.

Victoria approached with two friends.

She looked the little girl up and down.

Her lips curled into a smile.

Then she grabbed Lily's arm.

The child recoiled.

Victoria pointed toward the ballroom doors.

Lily shook her head.

Victoria tightened her grip.

The little girl cried.

Several nearby guests watched.

None of them moved.

The recording ended.

Silence swallowed the ballroom once again.

Emily turned off the screen.

"I don't need revenge."

She looked around the room.

"I only wanted everyone to see what my daughter experienced."

Judge Whitmore sighed deeply.

"Every person who remained silent shares responsibility."

His words landed heavily.

Richard Ashford, who had been speaking with investors in another wing of the hotel, rushed into the ballroom after receiving frantic phone calls.

"What happened?"

His eyes immediately found his wife.

Then the frozen guests.

Then Emily.

The coordinator hurried over.

"Sir..."

He whispered everything in less than thirty seconds.

Richard's expression changed with every sentence.

When he finally looked at the television screen replaying the footage, the color drained from his face.

"Victoria..."

She stepped toward him.

"I can explain."

Richard didn't answer.

He walked directly to Lily.

Then, to everyone's astonishment, he knelt.

"I'm very sorry."

Lily looked toward her mother.

Emily nodded gently.

Only then did Lily whisper,

"It's okay."

But Emily knew forgiveness didn't erase consequences.

Richard slowly stood and faced the room.

"My wife does not represent my values."

Victoria stared at him.

"Richard?"

He ignored her.

Turning to the board members seated near the stage, he spoke with a voice everyone could hear.

"As of this moment, Victoria Ashford is suspended from every charitable position she holds under the Ashford Foundation."

Gasps echoed across the ballroom.

Victoria's face turned white.

"You can't do this!"

Richard met her eyes.

"I already have."

Then another voice interrupted from the ballroom entrance.

"Actually..."

Everyone turned.

A woman in a dark business suit walked inside carrying a leather portfolio.

She smiled politely at Emily.

"Mrs. Parker..."

"The documents you requested are ready."

And suddenly, everyone realized...

The charity scandal was only the beginning.
