Chapter 13 – Building Something Better
Months passed.
Lancaster Holdings underwent the largest corporate reform in its history.
Adrian refused to celebrate the company's financial recovery until every employee affected by the scandal received compensation.
He established the Clara Lancaster Foundation, providing legal assistance to families harmed by fraud and domestic abuse.
Richard stepped down as chairman.
"I spent years leading a company," he admitted.
"Now I need to learn how to be a father."
Lily began attending a nearby elementary school.
At first she was shy.
Then she discovered painting.
Her colorful drawings soon covered the refrigerator at Lancaster Manor.
One afternoon she proudly handed Adrian a picture.
It showed four people beneath a giant oak tree.
"Who's this?" Adrian asked, pointing to the fourth figure.
"Mommy."
"But she's in heaven."
Lily smiled.
"I know."
She tapped the drawing.
"She's still with us."
Adrian framed the picture and placed it in his office.
