Adrian unfolded the remaining pages inside the envelope with careful hands.

The paper carried the faint scent of lavender, the perfume his mother had always worn.

My beloved Adrian and Lily,

If you are reading this together, then the miracle I prayed for has finally happened.

Lily leaned against her brother's shoulder.

Adrian continued reading.

Do not spend your lives chasing revenge. Justice matters, but love matters more. If the truth ever comes to light, let it heal this family instead of destroying what remains.

There was one final request.

"Scatter my ashes beneath the old oak tree overlooking Silver Lake—the place where Adrian learned to ride his first bicycle and where I dreamed of bringing Lily one day."

Adrian smiled through his tears.

"I remember that tree."

Lily looked up.

"Can we take Mommy home?"

He nodded.

"Yes."

A week later, the Lancaster family gathered beneath the towering oak tree.

Richard stood quietly beside his son and daughter.

As Clara's ashes drifted into the summer breeze, no speeches were made.

No cameras were allowed.

For the first time in seven years, Clara Lancaster had finally come home.
