Chapter 3: The Reversal

The man laughed softly.
"I don't think I've won."
He smiled.
"I know I have."
Then something changed.
The woman looked directly into his eyes.
The fear...
Was gone.
Completely.
His smile faltered.
Confusion flickered across his face.
Before he could react—
A powerful hand clamped onto his shoulder from behind.
He barely had time to turn before the husband spun him around and drove a crushing punch straight into his jaw.
The crack echoed through the bedroom.
His body slammed backward into the heavy wooden nightstand.
A crystal vase exploded across the marble floor, scattering glittering shards in every direction.
He collapsed against the furniture, clutching his face in disbelief.
His eyes darted wildly between husband and wife.
No...
This wasn't supposed to happen.
Panic took over.
He reached frantically into his pocket for his phone.
One tap.
One upload.
One final move.
But before he could unlock the screen—
"Looking for this?"
Her voice stopped him cold.
She held up a sleek black flash drive between two fingers.
His eyes widened.
Impossible.
"I removed it while you were busy threatening us," she said calmly.
"The synchronization was intercepted long before you walked into this room."
She offered the faintest smile.
"You don't have leverage anymore."
The color drained from his face.
